Rainy Days With The Kids

Rainy days are inevitable and really stink when they ruin plans. Instead of wasting the day watching tv, here are some fun and productive ideas to do with the kids on a rainy day. Have fun!

  • Clean bedrooms

  • Build a fort

  • Bake cookies

  • Play board games, card games, fun interactive games (Pictionary, Pie Face Game)

  • Go to an indoor jump place (Think bouncy houses, trampoline parks, etc)

  • Go to an arcade

  • Indoor go karting

  • Roller skating rinks, ice skating rinks (yes, even in the summer!)

  • Build a tower

  • Legos

  • Organize playroom

  • Learn to clean- vacuum, windex windows, water indoor plants (kids love to help!)

  • Play in the rain, puddle jump (embrace it!)

  • Go for a walk in the rain

  • Play in the mud

  • Clean out the garage (kids can play while parents clean, since these items are typically dirtier) 

  • Learn to fold and/or put away laundry (depending on age of child(ren))

  • Local sporting events (indoors- - think basketball, hockey, arena football, roller derby)

  • Go to a movie theatre 

  • Go to your local Children’s museum or any other museum type place

  • Local Aquarium 

  • Local library

  • Local performances or plays 

  • Board games

  • Make friendship bracelets 

  • Make an obstacle course 

  • Tea party

  • Puzzles 

  • Science experiments

  • Dance party

  • Scavenger hunt 

  • Makeover sessions

  • Hair salon

  • Karaoke 

  • Or if all else fails: Movie marathon (with popcorn, of course!)

  • Go through craft supplies and organize and get rid of old things that don’t work (markers, dried up paint, etc.)
